Project 2: Following acquisitions/merger of Medco with ESI, ESI came up with Systems retirement project where 150 applications are segregated under different verticals to retire the application. These applications are no longer meet current or emerging business needs/regulatory requirements and I was responsible for retiring 4 applications.
Elicit business requirements by creation of HLR, DLR, FRD and/or user stories document that provides a shared understanding between Business and IT, of the priorities and functionalities to be developed.
System is removed from active operations; hence the applications are subjected to decommissioning.
Analyze servers of each application and verify whether it is dedicated or leveraged by other applications.
Data, documentation, software or hardware is permanently destroyed if the server is dedicated to particular application.
Application having Medicare and DOD data had undergone retention policy and hence archival was needed into Optim database in form of flat files.
Validation of data during the migration process to Optim database.
Access to data in Optim database should be ensured throughout the retention period.
Tasks are executed; evidence being collected and SMEs signed off at script level.
