SUMMARY
I am an Organic Chemist that specializes in Reversible-deactivation radical polymerization. I am project oriented and enjoy working with others to solve complex problems. I am currently looking for a position where I can apply my problem solving skills to improve developmental projects. I have also been trained on and have used several different analytical techniques (listed below).

Ultra Performance Liquid chromatography (UPLC)
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
Vacuum distillation
Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)
Photopolymerzation

WORK EXPERIENCE
Corning Incorporated - Organic Technologies group 2015 – 2016
Collaborated with development to identify materials for use in Corning Life Sciences products
Provided expert analysis of analytical data for leachable/ extractable project and trained multiple technicians over the course of the project
Worked with a manufacturing team on field problems acting as chemistry expert and liaison for analytical group. The analysis provided allowed the team to identify solutions and improve quality of the product(s)
Initiated an independent research project using RAFT polymerizations aimed to improve various products
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Wetting agents for Ophthalmic applications 2011 – 2015
(Funded by Bausch and Lomb)
RAFT copolymerizations of hydrophilic and hydrophobic monomers to create surfactant like polymers and to study their solution properties. The structure/ property relationship of different architectures such as statistical, gradient, and block were studied.
Thiol-ene polymerizations using imide based monomers 2009 – 2013
Synthesized new imide containing monomers, which were subsequently used for thiol-ene polymerizations
The aim of this work was to increase the thermal properties of traditional thiol-ene polymers. (DOI: 10.1002/pola.26884)
RAFT polymerization of two different blocks using a universal RAFT agent 2011 – 2013
Using a single reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) agent, two monomers of different reactivity were polymerized into block copolymers while maintaining control over each block. (DOI: 10.1071/CH13375)
