Assist, review, and comment on technical documents such as SOPs, deviations, and OOS investigations, CAPAs and progressive changes to control documents

Sterility Testing (USP <71> / AAMI) conditions:

Utilize established procedures for sterility suite gowning within the gowning suite, prior to entering the sterile room environment

Core Laboratory Responsibilities:

Perform routine pharmaceutical product testing within Sterility room, Environmental and Analyst Microbiological Monitoring, Sterility checks, Microbial Identification, Observations and Interpretation of test results

Execute Microbiological Sterility testing on pharmaceutical products: Testing for the absence and presence of Aerobic bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis), Anaerobic bacteria

(Clostridium sporogenes) and Fungi (Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger)

Test for quality of media/reagents using growth promotion test

Test Biological Indicators for microbial growth (tests are incubated for 5 or 7 day intervals)

Check/evaluate media tests (with the pharmaceutical product present in media) within 24-72 hrs for possible evidence of macroscopic microbial growth

Interpret test results after a 14 day incubation period, or transfer portions of original test into vessels containing the same media and volume for an additional 4 days (if the product being tested renders itself turbid when placed in media)

Streak turbid test products visible with microbial growth (on TSA plates) to identify the organism, demonstrate non-sterility of the product or determine the test to be invalid for causes not related to the product (fault due to: environmental microbial monitoring plates, analyst personal microbial monitoring plates, test procedure/technique or material is questionable, and/or negative control shows microbial growth)

Record laboratory data on controlled documents and maintain experimental testing incubation records

Report and release Final Sterility Analysis Reports; containing detailed information about the result of the sterility test performed on the pharmaceutical product.

Conduct quality checks of USP and AMMI Incubators

Signed off on incubation analysis reports

Assist with weekly audits and maintenance of laboratory bench work areas in response to the FDA, internal/ regulatory auditors and external inspectors.
