1. COMPANY : NEMATECH MARKETING

POSITION : WORKSHOP AND PARTS MANAGER (OPERATIONS MANAGER)

DURATION : OCTOBER2003-TO DATE

RESPONSIBILITIES

Budget formulation and control by negotiating with suppliers agreeing on reasonable mark- ups, also changing suppliers into runners. Planning of Vehicle services Workshop and Spares policy formulation increasing awareness of rules and regulations each employee is required to follow. Introduced performance related management, evaluating employees every six months, rewarding good performers. Pre route checks before dispatch of trucks i.e. oil top- up, check tyre pressure, lights, dents, brakes and clutch adjustments and all legal requirements. Introduced workshop health and safety board to show accident statistics, achieved an average of 98 accident free record. Inspect all vehicles coming in for service for recurring defects, road test for fitness and make sure the job cards filled in correctly (spares and labour). Making sure that the working environment is clean. Imported spares in bulk in order to consolidate the expenses of freight and customs clearance. Introduced JIT purchasing system for locally available spares. Training of apprentices and drivers to ever changing techniques and trade culture. Introduced Pastel to manage stock in and out of the stores. Fuel management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage seven Estates workshops. Introduction of workshop and stores policy for the new company Approve budgets for the Estate Workshop Foreman and check expenditure by authorising purchases against budget. Travel to the Estates to physically inspect vehicles (trucks and trailers) on monthly basis bumper to bumper, wear and tear, service record, general vehicle condition, job cards and fire fighting vehicles and equipment, also hydraulic equipment like Fiscas Crane and Tele loggers. Job cards completion including spares ordered direct to the vehicle and labour charged. Stores management i.e. Goods received vouchers codex system against job cards, spares requisitions and delivery notes. Transportation of goods and workers was also done by my office, making sure that all buses are road worthy all the time. Movement of timber from Estates to the customers, locally and abroad. Test workshop diagnostic equipment for efficiency. Introduced Pastel into our stores to manage stock. A board for the accident statistics was introduced. Every body was to be responsible for the cleanliness of the workshop. Approve all payments to the automotive suppliers. I was responsible for all company assets and security. Fuel management.

3. COMPANY : FORESTRY COMMISSION

POSITION : WORKSHOP SUPRENTENDENT (CENTRAL WORKSHOPS)

DURATION : JANUARY 1998 –DECEMBER 2000

RESPONSIBILITIES

I was promoted to the Central Workshop in Mutare to be responsible for the main workshop, Machine shop and seven estates workshops through out the country. My duties were as follows. Established a unit shop where all the engine, gearbox, differentials, starter motors and alternators were done for all the estates. All company vehicle inspections and give to the relevant workshop foreman to action every month. Inspect equipment for safety compliance and record all accident statistics. Approve spares orders and also completed job cards for costing. Planning of services per annum, half year, monthly, weekly and daily using the manufacturer specifications. Recruit and train Apprentices and drivers. Fuel management.

4. COMPANY : FORESTRY COMMISSION (GWENDINGWE ESTATES)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Made sure that serviceable units were separated from junk I started ordering spares and bringing back the junk one every week. Within two months all the vehicles were back on the road. Installed a notice board on the wall for safety record. I introduced pre route checks before the vehicles depart to the fields. To improve availability we decided to do our services in the evening when the user had parked the equipment. The day shift had nothing to do in the workshop therefore we redirected them to driving timber jacks or skidders. Fuel management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This company is responsible for transporting National breweries, Chibuku breweries and United bottlers products. My duty was to service and repair these trucks and trailers.
