RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Esterification of Triglycerides – (1year 8months)

(Sept 2014 – May 2016) at Texas A&M University Commerce with Dr Ben Jang

Designing and developing a catalyst for Esterification process, for the production of alternative source of fuel i.e. Biodiesel.

A Heterogeneous mesoporous catalyst is synthesized by carbonization and hydrophobic groups are introduced by the process of sulphonation using ultrasound technique.

Performing activity test and characterization studies such as porosity analysis, surface area; pore size and pore volume. Functional group analysis using FTIR and titration studies.

Skills: FTIR analysis to study the functional groups and analyze the structural changes of the catalyst, Surface area and porosity analysis to study the mesoporosity of the catalyst, acid density analysis to study the effective of acidity on reaction rates, effect of ultrasound on the activity of catalyst. Product analysis using Gas chromatography equipped with FID

Instrumentation: Nicolet FTIR 380, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Micrometer Tri-Star Porosity analyzer, Buck GC 910

Selective Hydrogenation of acetylene (1 year 8months)

(Jan 2013 – Aug 2014) at Texas A&M University Commerce with Dr Ben Jang

Designing and developing a catalyst for selective hydrogenation of Testing sample for activity, performing characterization studies.

Palladium catalyst development using ionic liquid to coat the surface to make it more hydrophobic.

This reaction is unique due to the use of four phase system. Solid silica particles, ionic liquid, feed gases and use of plasma for hydrogenation.

Skills: Wet impregnation of Palladium, GC-MS analysis to analyze the components, Characterization of catalysts to study their isotherms. Analyze the structural changes and surface properties using thermo-gravimetric analysis and scanning calorimeter.

Instrumentation: DSC Q10, TGA 500, Shimadzu Gas Chromatography- Mass Spec(GCMS)

Formulation and Evaluation of Rosuvastatin Calcium Oral Floating Tablets

(Sept 2010 – Mar 2011) at Deccan School of Pharmacy with Dr Balaji Reddy (7months)

Development, Design and Characterization of Rosuvastatin Oral Floating Tablets. Performing sustain release studies, using the buoyancy technique for prolonged release of the drug, characterization studies.

Skills: Dissolution studies for drug absorption, Formulation using wet granulation technique, In Vitro analysis to study drug profile

Instrumentation: Monsanto Hardness tester, Roche Friabilator, USP XXII dissolution test apparatus, USP type II paddle apparatus

SOFTWARE SKILLS:

Spartan modeling V10.1.1.0
