Projects

Enhancement of absorption of Silicon based Photodiode: conducting research at the UCD iNANO center where Silicon based patterned photodiodes is researched. Designed multilayer mask and in the process of manufacturing to test the enhancement factor for absorbing photons.

Tactile flexible sensor using Silver nanoparticles and nanowires: Designed, manufactured and tested tactile flexible sensors by depositing Silver nanoparticles and nanowires on a flexible polymer. The device was able to measure pressure depending on the change of the capacitance. Currently, working on characterizing RF antennas using the same process.

Graduate project - FlowPeaks analysis for flow cytometry data using matlab: Implemented a flow cytometric data algorithm providing efficient data clustering using MATLAB. This algorithm, based on flowPeaks, is based on both the finite mixture model and the spatial exploration of the histograms to address the complexities of the flow cytometric analysis and to deal with high-dimensional data without the need of transformations. Analog and Mixed Signal IC Design Projects: Simulated, built and tested different transistor’s circuits this includes examining the Miller Effect, current mirrors, OTA, differential amplifiers, and designing a feedback amplifier to meet requested specifications • Designed a comparator• Designed a LNA for biomedical usage using CMOS technology • Designed a single ended current mirror operational amplifier meeting the specific design specifications provided • Architected a fully differential 6-bit SAR ADC using a switched-capacitor charge-distribution DAC • Designed, simulated & did the layout of a 3-bit serial adder with accumulator • Did the layout of a fully-differential switched- capacitor residue amplifier for use in a pipelined ADC with a telescopic cascode operational amplifier. Smart Grid: An innovative vision builder approach was developed to monitor the thermal load in a given space by monitoring the number of people and their distribution within a room, while sustaining cost and power consumption to a minimum. This unique and pioneering way to determine the thermal load was used to help reducing the amount of energy consumption needed for lighting control, heating and similar applications. This project was done with the California Smart Grid Center.

EKG Machine: In a group of two, an EKG circuit was successfully designed and built to display a person’s hear signal and determine the person’s heart beats rate.

Senior Design Project- Pressure Relief Compliance Monitor (PRCM): Leader of a team of four developed and designed a Pressure Relief Compliance Monitor system for monitoring and training wheelchair bounded patients at Shriner’s hospital to help prevent Pressure Ulcers. Responsible for building the circuitry required for signal acquisition form the sensors used, assisted with the wireless communication using zigbee, and developed a LabView VI for user interface and display the results for the physician’s evaluation . The project culminated in a working prototype demonstration and maintained comprehensive documentation of project progress, ensuring that all documents were formatted in compliance with IEEE standards.

DSP for Bio-Signals: Tested and co-developed a Biphasic Exposure Amplitude-Duration Analysis (EAD) to introduce a better approach to get useful information and more practical results monitoring the effort done by surgeons and their stress level, while performing surgeries and comparing it with a surgery using a robotic arm.
