• Interpret the information provided by the MWD field operator and use the information to induce the required angle in the hole in order to hit the specified target.
• Manage directional drilling tools at the well site.
• Isolates location of field failures and assists in analysis of tool failure.
• Informs client of unusual conditions during job; takes action to ensure service is maintained; documents and reports field failures and recommends action to prevent recurrence.
• Selects and prepares drilling equipment and visits clients before and after each job.
• Prepares end-of-well report and other job/post-job summaries and reports.
• Comply with applicable company policies, including Personnel, Quality System and Health, Safety and Environment standards and procedures.
• Successfully complete required safety training including but not limited to: drugs and alcohol, electrical, emergency response, fire, first aid, health and hygiene, PPE, SIPP, risk reporting, IT security, hazardous materials, driving.
I possess the following qualifications:
• More than 9 years directional drilling experience, including hands on-MWD experience
• Have dealt with anti-collision issues on multi-well pads, and have experience with open-hole side tracks.
• Experience drilling all types of wells (including build and turn, S wells and re-entries),
• Excellent practical directional drilling skills
• Good knowledge of directional mathematics and other theoretical elements required of the position
• Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate, work with and supervise industry counterparts and all levels of personnel at the drilling location
• Demonstrate understanding of the directional drilling processes and the part it plays in the drilling operation as a whole
• Demonstrate analysis and problem solving ability
• Functional knowledge of computer basics including Microsoft Excel and Word along with all in-house software related to the duties of the position (directional planning and operations, daily report sheets, etc.)
