REGAN MANN C.E.T.
To whom it may concern,
A Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is an applied science, information, or engineering technology professional who is capable of assuming responsibility and exercising independent judgment to perform technical tasks and solve problems in complex technological areas with limited direct supervision.
I was trained as an Architectural Technologist. I enjoy working to complete a project and this is where my passion truly lies. I love to design and be part of the construction industry and have kept active in the community. I regularly attend building expos and enjoy learning about varying products and how they can be applied to construction. I also started my carrier as a laborer and framer and have a background and understanding of how things are built.
I gained my Architectural Technologist Diploma with a minor in building Development Technology from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. I also have received a Certified Engineering Technologist designation from the Association of Science and Engineering Professionals of Alberta. I have been using AutoCAD for over 15 years and have also used other drafting and rendering programs. I have experience with Microsoft Office and am able to navigate most programs easily. I enjoy the technical side of drafting, design and project management and also enjoy going to site and helping with construction. I have experience in Quality Control and managing procedures and have implemented techniques on site and in the office. I love meeting and working with people to make the project precisely how it is supposed to be, and I focus on making sure things are done right. I work really well in a team environment where information and individual expertise are shared and used from each member of the team.
Upon completing school I worked for a civil engineering company, designing subdivisions and country residential sections. Soon after I was working for a restoration company performing project management and drafting and permit applications. I then moved over to the transportation industry and again was involved in training and managing events. Within the transportation industry I was also involved in safety and was a safety supervisor and incident investigator. Recently I have been working for an oil and gas company. Before working for any of these companies I did not have specialized training in the industry that they were in. I used the knowledge that I was taught and my work ethic to learn what was required and I advanced. Although I started at Cyntech knowing nothing of the governing codes as they relate to oil and gas, within two months the operations manager was listing me as a Senior Draftsman. During the same time period, Project Managers were also relying on my knowledge, design capabilities and abilities to overcome construction related problems. Some of the Managers had been with the company for years and yet I had surpassed them in some knowledge. This was also useful when talking with field crews and going to site. I often had employees asking me questions about code requirements or procedures. I still respect senior members of the team and understand that with experience comes wisdom.
I value knowledge and strive to learn something new each day. I have become proficient with multiple building codes and building requirements. I have experience in a vast array of fields from Structural, Civil, Architectural and Petroleum. I have always managed to grow in my role and learn what is required within the company. Facing challenges has helped me learn in areas I didn’t expect and this has helped me to be adaptable in various situations.
These facts show that while I have been employed in varying fields, I will excel, learn what is required and be a valuable asset to your team. I understand that at the beginning I will have some learning to do and will have to familiarize myself with some building practices. This will be no problem and I look forward to gaining knowledge.
Thank you for considering me for this position and should you have any questions please contact me at **********@*****.*** or 587-***-****.
Sincerely,
Regan Mann
