I’m applying for
…the Help Desk Support - Seattle position I came across at Glassdoor.com.
Unique qualities I bring
Since I’ve already worked in tech support (albeit in the 90s), I’m well acquainted and comfortable in the environment.
I relish coming to the aid of end-users, thrashing through the tangle of words to a arrive at an understanding of the problem, then researching the solution if it’s not at the top of my head.
I have aided users face-to-face, via phone, and via email. And I worry until a resolution is found and the end-user is content.
What techniques I haven’t encountered, I can learn. I’ve been learning all my life. And my 3.87 gpa in my recent tech support training at Seattle Vocational Institute proves I still can. (See www.JohnAEyon.com for my school transcript.)
From the start of my career, my mission was to support the end-users. That guiding principle remained with me ever since, whatever my role.
As has my work ethic. Good attendance has been a quiet strength of mine ever since. In the recent nine months of tech support schooling, I was there every day, on time (well, one time I got confused about the change in starting hours).
What I have done
As an in-house tech supporter, I setup computers, installed software, connected to networks and printers, troubleshot hardware and software, and trained users. That was in the 90s, and while computers have become more elaborate, computer basics remained unchanged.
In 2015, I spent 3-quarters in an intense Computer Support Technician program at Seattle Vocational Institute, brushing up on the latest technology, I have gone on to earn an A+ certification.
In closing
I look forward to a face-to-face to allow us both to more fully assess the other. Contact info is on my resume.
