Teradata/Informatica ETL Developer
As a member of the WellPoint project, my role was to develop Teradata scripts (BTEQ and MLOAD mostly) and Informatica mappings (Power center, workflow manager, workflow monitor) necessary for ETL - Extract, Transform and Load. I was in charge of the claims data which needed to be moved and cleaned (expressions, normalizer, filter, SCD Type 1, 2 and 3, etc.) from several source systems to the Teradata Enterprise Data Warehousing. Our team was involved in the Analysis phase where we design the data fllow according to datawarehouse tables which were developed by other team previously.
Responsibilities:
Work with another team in India for the complete Analysis phase on data flow.
Design the ETL process from the source systems (Oracle, SQL Server, flat files) to the Teradata data warehousing with several layers of Informatica Power center and Teradata.
Unit testing and stress testing of mappings and scripts.
Developed mappings in Informatica to load the data from various sources using transformations like Source Qualifier, Expression, Lookup (connected and unconnected), Aggregator, Update Strategy, Filter, Router etc.
Customize existing mappings as per end user requirements.
Used Informatica workflow Manager with Unix scripts to create, schedule, monitor and send the messages in case of process failures.
Designed and developed SQL, PL/SQL and UNIX shell scripts.
Improve the performance on the Teradata scripts “playing” with the AMP’s and using the EXPLAIN statement. In Informatica Power center we used reusable objects like the store procedure transformation and mapplets for saving development time.
Environment: Informatica Power center, Teradata, SQL Developer, Unix.
