As CAN (Andean Nations Community) Sales Director, I was accountable for the copper tubing exportation sales within this region, including those related with drinking water, gas, air conditioning, and refrigeration and sugar mill applications and some others like extruded bars and cold rolled sheets and strips. During this period, I performed the necessary market studies (both statistical and field studies) to determine the real market size, its functioning mechanisms and rules (written and non-written). This in order to create a solid database that supports the design and implementation of the suitable commercialization strategies, allowing the company to achieve the market share and sales volume budgeted for the region in general and the specific for Colombia. Likewise, I designed the company’s presentation brochure and dictated several training courses for field sellers, so that they were suitable prepared to promote efficiently the company products. My sales goal for the first semester of 2008 was enhance Company sales in Colombia from 1 container load//month to 4 containers//month, which represents from 20 to 80 metric tons.

As row (rest of the world sales department), International Sales Manager, I was responsible for all foreign trade operations except those carried out in USA. These operations encompassed all the exportable products the company manufacture like: medium and low voltage electrical cables, copper tubing for drinking water, gas, air conditioning, and refrigeration applications, cold rolled and hot wrought copper and brass products (mainly extruded bars and cold rolled sheets and strips), control and regulation accessories for gas applications, water heaters, glass, porcelain and polymeric high and medium voltage insulators.

I also was accountable for the operation of IUSA’s sales offices located in France, UK, Spain, Netherlands and Venezuela, and for the worldwide distributor’s network.

During the last two years, I promoted and achieved many homologations and certifications for IUSA products from international certification institutions like AFNOR (France), AENOR (Spain), CIDET (Colombia), ICONTEC (Colombia), SEMERCA (Venezuela) and CESMEC (Chile); allowing the company to enhance the sales in 1000%, from 500,00.00 USD/month to 5’000,000.00 USD/month.

Additionally, I was responsible for the complete international supplying logistic, including the successful handling of more than 70 TEU’s/month.

As Founder and General Manager, I had the opportunity of carrying out many and diverse activities, among which the most important were:

In Purchasing field, I developed very satisfactory commercial relationships with many suppliers what allowed my company to be able to sell almost any class of cable such as: high, medium and low voltage, distribution, control, telephonic, high temperature, mines, instrumentation, etc. These cables came from first level domestic manufactures and from many others abroad, located in North and South America and Europe. I also obtained the supplying of many other electrical products like: ballasts, lighting fixtures, lamps, explosion proof equipment, transformers, and electric generators.

In Sales field, I was involved in two different market segments: the public and the private. In the first one, I participated in high volume public tenders of cable, and equipment supplying for: Light & Power Company of Mexico, C.F.E., for their high voltage transmission lines and substation building projects and in important PEMEX projects

(most of them handled by its contractors) like: drilling platforms wiring and many other related with exploration, production and refining.

In the private sector, I participated in many big projects supplying electric material like: malls, factories and hotels and furnishing power, control and instrumentation cables as well. In 1997, I established a branch office in Colombia (3 people), where I commercialized Mexican electrical products, performing all the activities mentioned above for the domestic market, plus the logistic activities associated with exportation as international freights, custom import/export procedures, import duties, letters of credit, money transfers, etc. 1987-1989 CONDUMEX GROUP

Working for the same group, I moved from the previous technical and R&D activities to the copper and aluminum procurement operation, as metals manager for all wire and cable Condumex manufacturing facilities. My responsibilities over there included: forecasting, budgeting, purchasing and supplying of about 5,000 tm/month (US$ 6 million value), of copper and aluminum rod and the logistic involved for its timely allocation and delivery to each one of the consuming facilities.

Likewise, I was in charge of the handling and logistic of the scrap generated in the wire and cable manufacturing process. Additionally, I was accountable to corporate management of the international futures and options operations, necessary for the metals purchasing of process and for fixing the monthly metal price applicable to the daily cable selling process. Multinational company based in Mexico and involved in the manufacturing of almost all type of high, medium and low voltage electrical cables, some for specific electronic applications, optical fiber cables and recently as electrical contractor in big projects.

Hired as head metallurgy advisor for all wire & cable manufacturing Condumex facilities, I was responsible for studying and solving the manufacturing troubles related to copper and aluminum wires and cables, which are the core-base for the final production of energy, telephonic, building and special cables. Likewise, I performed technical staff functions along with the technical departments of each manufacturing facility, in activities concerning R&D and for new processes projects development as: copper cable scrap recycling, continuous casting copper rod plant commissioning, tinsel wire plant development and grounding copper-clad rods plant design, where I performed as project leader, handling engineering cable design, manufacturing equipment selection and purchasing, plant lay-out studies and project commissioning.

Professional strengths:

In the technical field, my strengths lie on the excellent basic preparation obtained during my college studies, which supported me for a further developing of solid expertise in general manufacturing processes, and in some specialties like: wire drawing, cable manufacturing, continuous casting processes, and metal finishing.

In the commercial sphere, the knowledge and professional experience accumulated during a long career in international business development and commercial managing, have allowed me to achieve many goals both in the public and in the private sector, as well as freelance entrepreneur and medium and high level manager.
