SKILLS & ABILITIES I may not have usual or common job experience but I am a fast learner and a hard worker. I know how to use Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. The majority of my experience has been in a genetic research lab. In that regard, I am comfortable with and proficient in genetics research techniques including gene amplification, primer design, DNA purification, electrophoresis gels, and cloning as well as using sequence analysis software and a phylogenetic analysis program. I am a very fast learner as well as good at dealing and working with other people. In the past I have been accountable for getting specific challenging tasks done and keeping a spotless, neat, organized lab as well as detailed and color coded notes on par with professional research institution criteria. I was also responsible for keeping, updating, and synthesizing past research and my research. I was in charge of getting my work done when left to my own devices and have developed excellent time management skills I am also excellent at organization. Working this way has made me detail oriented and increased my diligence. I go out of my way to help coworkers and others I come across and treat them with the utmost respect. I am considered a thoughtful and helpful individual amongst my peers and superiors. I can synthesize information into reports, PowerPoint presentations, and other modes of communication. I have given lectures and held meetings about my and others’ work (primarily from scientific literature papers).

EXPERIENCE INDEPENDENT STUDY RESEARCH OHIO WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY SEPTEMBER 2013 MAY 2015

During fall and spring school semesters I worked with Dr.Tami Panhuis in her genetics laboratory. My instructor and I were looking at the molecular evolution of the gene IGFBP1 in P oeciliopsis fish. I routinely worked amplifying gene segments, purifying DNA, cloning, running electrophoresis gels, using gene analysis software, and a phylogenetic analysis program, in addition to meticulous note taking and record keeping.
