Social Development Director (SDD)
The SDD role oversees and manages several different areas on center after academic/vocational training hours. Those areas include Residential, Recreation, Safety/Security, Transportation and Student Leadership. As the Director, I manage a staff of 80 which cover all areas of the center. As the SDD, my responsibilities were student programming in all areas managed, training of staff, student retention, departmental budgeting, wage/scheduling budget (operations) and report writing to include direct management reports to the Center Director and Corporate Office. The SDD was a direct report to the Center Director.
Education & Training Manager (IndyPendence Job Corps Site)
As the E&T Manager of the IJCS, I was involved in oversight of all academic and vocational programs related to the center. Those duties consisted of, but not limited to report management & oversight, monitoring student transitions from each CDSS (Career Development Service System), and instructional management. I was responsible for ensuring monthly and quarterly production goals were met or exceeded. Also included in this position was community development with the Work Base Learning (WBL) program and employers in and around the Indianapolis, IN downtown area. This position was a direct report to the Site Director at IndyPendence.
Social Development Manager (SDM)
SDM assisted the Social Development Director in multiple facets in and around center. The duties assigned to the SDM consisted of identifying trends and training needs to assist residential management with retention, behavior management, transportation concerns, recreational events and all other activities identified for evening programming. The SDM worked with Counseling, Academics and Vocational areas to assist with student retention as it pertained to educational needs and behavior management as well. Other areas managed by the SDM were transportation, recreation, food services, and wellness in the absence(s) of each respective manager of that particular area.
Center Standards and Incentive Office Supervisor (CSIO)
The CSIO Supervisor position assists with the guidance and redirection of negative student behavior while incentivizing and reinforcing positive behavior. Duties include disciplinary actions including, but not being limited to, student behavioral contracts, student counseling, implementing student incentive programs, and disciplinary program separations. As Supervisor, this position also, trains, mentors, and provides resources for the department and its staff as it relates to being effective on center. This also includes training staff in other departments on CSIO practices along with center standards and expectations.
Career Counselor
Duties of counseling position are to provide guidance for students thru their extended stay while attending the Job Corps program. These duties include, but are not limited to personal counseling, facilitating and implementing career plans, trade and academic assistance when applicable, liaison between student(s) and staff, and assisting with transitional plans as students complete the program.
