EXPERIENCE: DISTRICT MANAGER II, VARIAN MEDICAL SYSTEMS CUSTOMER SUPPORT

February 2008 - December 2011: North Mid East District Customer Support Manager

Managed a field service district encompassing all Varian hardware and software in Michigan and Ohio. Planned and directed all daily activities for seventeen Field Service Engineers. Responsible for a very large installed equipment base; Varian Clinac™ linear accelerators, associated X-Ray imaging systems, radiation therapy simulators, and all related treatment planning, treatment management, and treatment delivery software systems. Supervised and managed numerous complex installations and upgrade projects, from the planning phase through completion and commissioning of all equipment installations, followed by management of continuous maintenance and repair activities. Created, presented, and negotiated service contracts and support agreements to customers, attaining budgeted service contract revenues exceeding seventeen million dollars annually.

June 2003 –February 2008: National Software Technical Support Team

Provided second tier field support to Field Service Representatives nationwide. Advanced troubleshooting of complex technical issues. Called upon to deal with difficult problems at customer sites nationwide and abroad, liaising with customer technical and clinical staff and seeing the issues through to resolution. Provided support for large upgrade projects and complex system migrations. Highly skilled at technical evaluation, procedure document and service manual writing, and documentation revision.

June 2000-June 2003: Field Service Specialist Varian Software Products

Installed, serviced, and maintained Varian hardware and software products nationwide and abroad. Installed and upgraded systems and provided continuing service for some of Varian’s largest customer sites, including University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Vanderbilt University, Emory, and Duke University Hospitals.

June 1980-June 2000: U.S. Navy Senior Chief Data Systems Technician (Retired after twenty years of active duty).
