PROJECTS:
Title of the Project Month & Year Abstract
Design and
Implementation of HVDC
Converters in Rectifier
Mode.
August-2015 to April-
2016
From the past two decades many
renewable energy technologies have
well developed, reliable, cost
competitive with the conventional fuel
generators. Trending, Solar and Wind
energy systems make use of advance
level growth in power electronics
technologies. HVDC transmission
system is now an upgraded technology
and has an important part in both
Interconnected and in long distance
transmissions. When these HVDC lines
were come in use they form like
backbone of an electric power system,
they combine high reliability with a
long useful life. The simulation of 3-
phase rectifier (six pulse converter) has
been designed and simulated in
MATLAB as well as in Real Time
Simulation (OPAL-RT), and it is
realized in hardware, the results
obtained are satisfactory.
Design and Analysis of
Soft-Switched Buck-
Boost converter for PV
applications.
Jan-2015 to April-
2015
In this project fully integrated single
switch DC-DC Soft-Switched Buck-
Boost converter designed and
implemented for PV application.
Conventional switching of converter
leads to power losses during switching,
leads to reduction of efficiency, so this
Zero Voltage Source (ZVS) based soft-
switching is employed to the converter.
A200W prototype model was designed,
simulated in PSPICE and realized in
hardware.
Power Factor Correction
by using PFC Boost
Converter.
Jan-2014 to April-
2014
Generally non-linear loads are the main
sources of harmonics, so one new
control scheme is to compensate the
harmonic current generated by the
rectifier so as to achieve PF near to
unity and to regulate the DC bus
voltage. this scheme uses one PFC
Boost converter which is connected in
shunt with diode rectifier to compensate
current drawn by the single phase diode
rectifier.
