ACADEMIC PROJECTS

CLEMSON UNIVERSITY, Clemson, S.C Aug 2015 – Dec 2015

Plant Layout Design Simulation

A Shop floor layout has been proposed and optimised for the production of a hypothetical 8-speed transmission.

The goal of the project was to maintain an average Takt time while maintaining the lowest cost of production.

Siemens Tecnomatix plant simulation was used to configure plant layouts incorporating machine failures, time variances and buffers when necessary.

CLEMSON UNIVERSITY, Clemson, S.C May 2015 – Aug 2015

Modification of a Laptop Cooling Pad and a Portable Vacuum Cleaner

Conceptualized and designed a Laptop Cooling pad and portable Vacuum Cleaner based on an existing design in the market using SolidWorks.

Consumer Feedback was used to identify the flaws and customizations were carried out to rectify them

The final design was presented to demonstrate the restructured model

CLEMSON UNIVERSITY, Clemson, S.C Jan 2015 – April 2015

Analysis of a solar Water Heating System

Investigated the effectiveness of a solar energy heater using TMY3 data

The amount of supplemental electrical energy, the fraction of the water heating load met by solar energy, and the average efficiency of the system have been calculated for two Months using Microsoft Excel

The results are compared for two collector areas to assess the effect of collector area on performance

NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY, DeKalb, IL Aug 2014 – Dec 2014

Six-bar Rectilinear Motion Generator

The project advances a method for straight line motion generation using a six-bar linkage without any deviation

The linkage is designed by using three precision points. Moving pivot method and fixed pivot method are used in designing the linkage. The design is made on the GUI where two four bar mechanisms are combined to form a six bar mechanism

This mechanism is used in lifting items from lower level to a certain height with minimum deviation and without collapsing

JNTU, India Dec 2013 – May 2014

Structural and Thermal analysis of gas turbine casing

A casing of a gas turbine has been modelled using Creo 2.0 and analysed for different loading conditions by employing Structural and Thermal modules in ANSYS.

The casing was standardised to the highest amount of pressure and temperature it could withstand.

Restructured the existing model based on reduction of weight and by varying the material of casing

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), Student member

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Student member

Industrial visits to BMW assembly plant and ZF transmissions assembly plant
