Objective: Obtain a full-time job as a process or quality engineer where I can provide my creative energy and
knowledge in chemical engineering principles to the role. Will consider other areas as well.
Education
University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering Expected Graduation Date: May 2016
Minor in Material Sciences and Engineering GPA: 3.51 Major: 3.59
Relevant Experience
Process Improvement Engineer Allergan Inc. Fajardo, PR Aug 2015 – Dec 2015
CAPA Project 1. Standardization of the drying process for wet granulations.
Standardized the drying process in the Vector Fluid Bed Dryer in order to comply with the FDA rules and regulations.
CAPA Project 2. Justification for the removal of product specification.
Developed technical assessment consisting of statistical analysis of product performance to justify the removal of final blend Loss on Drying (LOD) specification.
Led a Kaizen team of 13 members from different areas within the company and achieved a 50% improvement in the documentation work flow for the Cleaning Validation area; reduced 6 forms to
3 forms.
Materials Researcher U.S. Naval Research Laboratory Washington DC Summers of 2014 and 2015
Research 1. Measured interfacial tension, advancing and receding contact angles of drops deposited on Parylene coated substrates using Electrowetting-on-Dielectric (EWOD) method.
Research 2. Fabricated and characterized nanostructures built by using Electrospray Ionization and Glancing Angle Deposition.
Polymer Scientist NASA Glenn Research Center Cleveland, OH Jan 2013 – May 2013
Designed, synthesized and characterized new polymer aerogels and polymer reinforced silica aerogels with improved properties.
Performed mechanical and thermal characterization of the aerogels: chemical structure, morphology, porosity and density of supercritically dried aerogels.
Materials Researcher North Carolina State University Raleigh, NC Summer 2013
Investigated potential substrates to be used for enhancing printed image resolution.
Analyzed topographic results of the substrates on Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM).
Achieved an increase in image resolution on the substrates up to a micrometer range.
Extracurricular Activities
Secretary and Treasurer IIQPR and AIChE Student Chapter, Mayaguez, PR Jan 2013 – May 2013
Managed accounts of the IIQPR and AIChE chapters, including companies’ donations. Coordinated activities with companies’ representatives. Updated the resume’s portfolio.
Coordinator of the Internship Talk Series Tau Beta Pi Jan 2014 – May 2014
Coordinated three (3) conferences in one semester about full time, COOP and research opportunities for students in the engineering field.
