Attention: To Whom it May Concern

Please find attached a copy of my resume in respect of my application for the position in Marketing and/or Direct Sales you have posted on Indeed.ca. As you will see from my resume, my communication skills honed through a university education in marketing and successful communications and marketing experience will contribute to the timely and creative delivery of the sales and marketing activities required by your organization. Moreover, my commitment to teamwork, my goal-oriented focus, and my determination for success are well- suited to the collaborative and creative work environment described in the job order for this position.

My most recent professional experience as an Assistant Director/ Manager of C- Spec Inspection Services Inc. has prepared me well for this opportunity. My role at C-Spec involves many aspects of the daily operations required for successful entrepreneurship. These include timely and organized document control and information dissemination, leadership through collaboration, communication and effective team management as well as a working understanding of business finances and goals. In addition to being responsible for the everyday management operations of this company, I was lucky to be involved with many creative endeavours (such as logo, website and swag design) which were required to market and create a brand for C-Spec during it’s formative years. Understanding both the operations as well as the creative requirements still needed to increase industry awareness of this Consultation Services business meant that my contributions helped the C-Spec Inspection Services team to increase their company’s annual income from roughly $85,000 per year in 2007 to $700,000 per year in 2015.

Directly related to marketing, more specifically Market Research, I worked with an exceptional team of people at Insightrix Research. In my time there, I gained valuable insight regarding listening to clients’ needs and determining how my research skills could help. Using statistical analysis of quantitative datum, qualitative research and report writing, I answered many questions for a diverse group of clients on topics including (but not limited to) education, real estate, employment, economics, politics and healthcare. The variety of these topics created a very interesting work environment and an invaluable learning experience.

Though I have many experiences with direct sales, my most recent related employment was with Canwest (go!Local) as an Advertising Consultant. This position involved generating new business advertisers for the new Saskatoon phone directory. Working closely with Saskatoon’s small business owners to determine how Canwest’s products could assist in the growth of their company, this position required personal traits such as adaptability, self-motivation, superb organizational skills, resiliency and persistence. I believe these transferable traits will assist me in the sales and/or marketing role with your company. Also, while still a student at the U of S, I also had the opportunity to develop relevant fundraising and event planning experience as a Communications Consultant (a summer-term position) for the North Saskatchewan Independent Living Centre (“NSILC”). As a consultant for NSILC, I researched the Saskatchewan community through primary and secondary research and analyzed the findings to develop a novel communication/marketing strategy. The primary goal of the strategy was attracting potential clients to the centre. The presentation of the findings and the strategy to the Board of Directors at NSILC was well received. Overall, the project was a great success and a source of personal pride as many components of the strategy were implemented. Further, the position evolved to include assisting the board with creating and executing events for Saskatoon Access Awareness Week. Prior to this weeklong event, I was charged with creating marketing materials, creating thank you letters for sponsors, sending out press releases, as well as recruiting and training volunteers. I truly enjoyed the creative process involved in this short term position and look forward to using this type of energy and creativity to assist me in my role with your firm.

I completed my degree in the Bachelor of Commerce program, graduating in the spring of 2007 with Great Distinction. With a major in Marketing, and a my diverse experiences in Management, Research, Communications and Sales, I understand the need for executing effective communication practices, the ability to plan and organize, as well as the importance of demonstrating good corporate citizenship.

Having been successfully involved in building relationships through consultative marketing, direct sales and my current assistant director role, I am enthused about the opportunity to contribute my experience while simultaneously learning a whole new product/service/industry from your experienced team. I feel that together we can maximizing sales, exposure and creative solutions for you and your clients.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my cover letter and resume. I look forward to further discussing this opportunity. I can be reached by telephone

306-***-****) or by e-mail (******@*****.**).

Sincerely,

Angela Vandersluis
