Procurement Manager – St. Louis Plants
Responsible for managing the supply chain for 4 plants & spend of over $250 million. Commodities include raw materials (LDPE resin, colorants, packaging, printing, chemicals, etc), contract manufacturing (domestic and international), construction management, contract servers, MRO, warehousing.
Reduced inventory by over $500,000 in one year.
Negotiated over $1 million in cost savings. Re-established a specification system for purchasing of raw material.
Worked to develop sources in low cost countries. New product line developed from these sources.
Implemented multiple vendor managed inventory programs, resulting in a $250,000 inventory reduction.
MEMC Electronic Materials: 2001 to 2005
MEMC a global silicon wafer manufacturer.
Global Commodity Manager
Started as a Senior Buyer, within two years was promoted to Global Commodity Manager. Commodities include: chemicals, slurries, IT & services. The spend was over $100 million and was consumed at 9 plants globally, located in the USA, Asia & Europe.
As a Senior Buyer, was responsible for purchasing & inventory of chemical and gas supply, quartz ware, & copiers, for 2 US plants. Changes implemented included: consolidating vendor base; reducing grade of chemicals, outsourcing chemical blending, lead effort to bring on new vendors, & lower days on hand inventory from 39 to 20 days.
Implemented dual source qualification for chemical suppliers in a high purity environment, and created a more competitive pricing environment.
Negotiated a new supplier contract for hazardous gas and systems, with annual cost savings of over $400,000/yr.
Trained employees in SAP purchasing operations and reporting.
Cost savings projects totaled over $1 million per year.
In addition launched a cost savings project to recycle saw slurry with savings greater that $3 million per year.
Covidien/Tyco Healthcare: Purchasing 1998 to 2001
Covidien is a leading manufacturer of healthcare equipment & pharmaceuticals.
Buyer
Responsible for managing commodities of over $9.5 million spend per year. Commodities included printed circuit boards, pneumatic valves and fittings, aluminum extrusions, packaging & fasteners. The St. Charles plant manufactured medical devices. All purchased components were compliant with FDA & GMP guidelines. Worked as a leader and participant on many projects involving cross-functional teams, including quality, engineering, & purchasing, resulting in savings of over $3 million.
Responsibilities included the entire procurement process, including sourcing, vendor audit & approval, negotiation, contracts material planning purchase orders and forecasting.
In an environment heavily regulated by the FDA, lead a cross-functional project team to redesign circuit boards, and find a new source which saved the company over $2.5 million.
U.S. Electrical Motors, Division of Emerson Electric: 1991 to 1998
Position: Supervisor of Purchased Finished Goods
Responsibilities included inventory planning in multiple plants, coordinating purchased finished goods from external and internal sources. Also, responsible for training and grooming personnel in entry-level position for advancement. Trained to be an ISO quality systems auditor.
