Senior Project Manager 2005 – 2015

Directed Information Technology and Business System Engineering projects from inception to launch, leading onsite and virtual teams representing 10+ functional areas and 40+ team members on 15 or more applications and platforms with budgets exceeding $15 million dollars.

Facilitated eight cross functional teams developing a new Health Insurance Web Site scaled for laptops, tablets, and smart phones for a vendor supporting our direct marketing products at a budget of $5 Million over 2 years.

Committed Compliance and Regulatory Project Manager:

oSuccessfully coordinated centralization of all Compliance and Regulatory projects resulting in ability to compare and prioritize all initiatives and directing efforts appropriately. Accomplished completion of 100+ initiatives, some with extremely aggressive deadlines determined by state legislation.

Project Manager 2000 – 2005

Directed Information Technology and Business System Engineering projects from inception to launch, leading onsite and virtual teams representing various functional areas and multiple team members on five or more applications and platforms with budgets exceeding $5 million dollars.

Established initial Project Management Office (PMO) within the company starting with our division as part of a four person strategy team.

oImplemented new project management software for standardized reporting, detailed tasks tracking, ability to track estimates vs actuals, and tracking resource skill sets and availability; this led to a new era in the ability of leaders to oversee all projects within the division.

oCentralized prioritization across the division while establishing standardized processes and documentation. Created training materials and conducted team and one-on-one training.

oContinued refinement and enhancement of the process to meet the continuing demands and growth of the division.

Organized introduction of Automated Workflow Distribution (AWD) in Cedar Rapids office to replace manual processing, resulting in the reduction of manual entry errors and missed tasks, and improving compliance with standardized processing rules.

Steered implementation and created work flow and documentation for the Interactive Voice Recognition Program leading to an improved customer and end-user experience and fewer tasks for customer service representatives.

Technical Team Lead 1995 – 2000

Managed day-to-day work of multiple Information Technology developers. Scheduled assignments, ensuring production goals were met; conducted yearly reviews and pay increases.

Supervised conversion of life insurance policy management system from LifeComm to Cyberlife.

oCoordinated tasks for five developers in conversion of functions and data from LifeComm to Cyberlife on a mainframe platform; resulting in enhanced capabilities and newer technology for policy maintenance functions of insurance contracts.

oStrategized and organized tasks for two developers on the New Graphical User Interface Platform (GUI) supporting new business processing functions. Attended technical training with the development staff to ensure capability and understanding during software implementation and provided backup and additional development aid when necessary.

Selected to lead the development teams in the Texas office processing health insurance. Traveled weekly for nine months while management determined the future state of the office. Successfully guided the technical teams through Y2K with no interruption of services to clients.
