Aircraft Preliminary Design

The project consisted of the design of a firefighting aircraft based on a Request for Proposal (RFP).

Team of 6 members.

The aircraft design was presented to a panel and then analyzed during the second phase (Detail Design)

Took place between January and April of 2012.

Aircraft Detail Design

Consisted of design, build and test of a wind tunnel scale model and a structural test article based on the preliminary design.

This phase of the project employed CAD and FEA software .

Extensive fabrication, test plan creation, for both structural model and wind tunnel model, data acquisition, data post-processing and analysis.

Took place between August and December of 2012.
