DISCRIPTION:

The tanks were constructed during the pre-independence days. Since the construction, the removal of silt, repairs and maintenance of channels has not been undertaken when required due to financial constraints. Many tanks are silted and some are visually dead. As a result the storage capacity and percolation of water has reduced. The situation has worsened due to indiscriminate digging of bore wells for tapping groundwater resulting in its over exploitation.
