Other activities include: supervising onsite wireline logging and coring activities; interpreting wireline logs to pick target zones and choosing core point locations. Also responsible for: monitoring drilling activities; geosteering wells and issuing well plan and inclination changes while drilling to ensure we stay in the target zone and maximize gas returns; and preparing and delivering geosteering and end of well reports. Additional projects include data management, statistical analysis, concept data modeling, and various research projects.
Project Experience
After creating a geosteering training manual within the first few months, I began taking on additional responsibilities and was promoted from Wellsite Geologist into an Operations Geology role. I was chosen to join the team focusing on shallow formation plays and was given my own rigs to manage, including choosing new well locations, generating new well approval packages, reviewing well plans, overseeing all geosteering and drilling activities, and coordinating with the drilling engineers to ensure the well is drilled within the best target area for maximum returns. Currently I am drilling Eagle Ford and shallow formation wells in addition to developing an exploration and production business data concept model, developing data management strategies, and applying Transform software to perform multivariate statistical analysis to well data to determine the relationships between well attributes and production.

Other activities included collecting, preparing, analyzing and describing samples; monitoring gas values; preparing and delivering the mud log and status reports; reviewing equipment status, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, and reporting problems; monitoring and maintaining supplies and work environment; assist in trailer rig up/rig down; properly communicating with Company personnel, customers and other external parties. Other responsibilities include: training new employees, overseeing quality of the deliverables, managing the logging crew onsite, and communicating with the exploration geologist.
Project Experience
After completing Horizon’s Field Geologist Development program and being promoted from Lead Logger to Wellsite Geologist and Geosteerer, I was chosen to join the team of geologists working on the Talisman drilling operations project which includes working with Talisman Energy, Precision Drilling, and ProDirectional as the onsite geosteerer and wellsite geologist and acting as main point of contact for all steering, logging, gas monitoring, and geology related activities onsite. Also I have worked as the lead logger with Anadarko, Helmerich & Payne, and Halliburton personnel for the development of Anadarko wells drilling in the Maverick Basin Eagle Ford Shale Field in Texas. Experience with vertical and horizontal logging and oil and water based mud.

Other duties included: the deployment of seismic sensors and arrays; operating GPS units and other electronic equipment related to the acquisition of seismic data in the field; ensuring all the data is recorded and labeled in the established procedures; and using SeisOptReMi software to derive one dimensional S-wave velocity structure from ambient noise and active source with standard refraction, P-wave geophones, and recording equipment.
Project Experience
Collected and analyzed data for a high density seismic survey in the Las Vegas Valley for Clark Count Development Services. Responsibilities included: planning field operations to determine the appropriate equipment, site access, and best data collection times considering terrain, land use, traffic, and property owner stipulations in an effort to minimize potential impact to the environment and infrastructure while maximizing safety and reducing and disturbances to the public; processing noise recordings and used refraction microtremor method to analyze data to create a single shear wave velocity profile for each seismic array; and overseeing quality assurance over the data processed and compiled.
