Physical Science Technician/Confirmation

Perform lengthy and detailed chemical extracting procedures on human urine specimens maintaining the chain of custody and rigidly adhering to the technical steps set forth in procedures

Use a wide range of analytical laboratory equipment and instruments such as pipettes, resin ion exchange extractors, balances, ph. Meters, nitrogen dryers, incubators, baths, shakers, and centrifuges, gas chromatography and mass spectrometers to quantitate the concentration of abuse drug substances present in the prepared extracts.

Makes chemical reagents required in the extraction process. Weigh and measures chemical compounds in accordance with established formulas.

Tunes and calibrates such instruments, performs injections of samples, standards, and controls.

Performs initial data summation, calculations, evaluation, review and interpretation ensuring completeness and compliance with documented standards.

Replaces and services operator level parts and materials, and completes operator cleaning and maintenance requirements.

Provide bench level training and orientation in technical and administrative procedures, analytical techniques, equipment operation and maintenance, and laboratory safety.
