PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
WHIRLPOOL, Amana, IA 2001 to 2016
Designer
Create bill of material, write engineer change notice, attend pilots of new models. Took designs from concept by taking engineering idea and or visual design concept and create new parts numbers with new detailed drawing and adding them to a new or old bill of material. Through implementation.
Modified and refined designs so parts where more manufacturable and or can be assembled on a production line. Example: Design was driving screw straight up blindly at toe height to hold handle on unit and by adding a clip so production just had to slide handle on clip at bottom of unit. Made designs to customer specifications. Worked within set budgets. Evaluated design concepts. Studied competing products and design styles. Submitted itemized production requirements. Supervised assistants. Proficient in Word and Excel. Coordinated with engineering departments.
Cost reducing: By standardizing parts or eliminating parts that are not needed which reduce labor and parts example:
1. Deleted end cap brace from top and bottom caps on Dovetail pantry doors for cost savings of $117,773.00 annual.
2. Standardize crisper brace 26" Trio for cost saving of $13,300.00 annual 3. Eliminate all upper and lower end cap braces on 33" contour freezer doors for annual cost savings of $103,327.00
New model releases: I have done model releases for a variety of platforms including Legacy bottom mounts, built in refrigerator (Ponte), and 50# icemaker. I was checking Ponte CN's from other co-workers for BOM structure and I also been working with Service to ensure service assemblies are getting released for new models. I also was working with Engineering to understand the best way to structure foam in our bill of materials.
Create new procedure: Determine proper process for documentation requirements for model releases. This includes necessary steps in SAP and Windchill. Create QRG (Quick Reference Guide) to assist others and to communicate requirements for proper documentation which may include Material Master information for example
Create new process: By taking a production number and identifying it by it name or part description production knew what online test to run, our old system used smart number
Create new document: I help develop a set of instruction for the production line which we called assembly directive which shown what was create to the engineering department example would e wire routing
Mentor co-worker: By showing coworker best practices in SAP to create bill of material and checking your work in SAP
Recognition award: I have received recognition for learning windchill and completing a major project as follow: Change HFO foam assembly structure in all bottom mounts to be in line with actual production. This included 96 sub assemblies for foam quantities and revised 427 foam cabinets, 899 foam doors, and 140 pantries and icebox assemblies. I had to delete "A" and "B" side and replace with one part number which causes CN with Almost 2000 lines on the CN.
