Job Description (CT SCAN TECHNOLOGIST)
- Set up Examination rooms in the morning and as a per patient basis, ensuring that all
necessary equipment and/or resources are ready to use.
- Position and immobilize patient on examination table.
- Explain and give instruction to patient with regards to the procedures.
- Answers questions of patients about the procedures.
- Key commands and data into computer to document and specify scan sequences.
- Operate CT scan imaging equipment, view images, and produce radiographs.
- Evaluate developed radiographs to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic
purposes.
- Observe patients through the control window to ensure their safety and comfort during
scan.
- Monitor video display or area being scanned and adjust density or contrast according to
specification of examination to improve picture quality.
- Monitor patients conditions and reactions, reporting any abnormal signs to physician.
- Prepare and administer oral or inject contrast media to patients in the absence of staff
nurse.
- Take thorough and accurate patient medical histories in the absence of staff nurse.
- Coordinate work with clerical personnel, other technologist and Doctors.
- Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with the government
regulations and ensure safety of patients and co-staff.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned or required of the job.
