Cyber Protection Brigade, United States Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER)

Brigade Cyber Operations Technology Director- Identified requirements, organized, and tasked authorized cyber personnel and equipment resources. Personally and through fellow supervisors, prepared and presented justifications for organization structure and personnel requirements to accomplish assigned cyber mission and functions. Ensured a 600 man Cyber Protection Brigade was able to conduct global cyberspace operations to deter, disrupt, and defeat the adversaries of the United States and defend its interests.

Developed and implemented the strategy for a rapid response cyber protection force capable of defending key Department of Defense communication infrastructures.

Through analysis of operations requirements, standing war plans, commander’s information requirements and priorities, and technology trends within the Department of Defense Area of Responsibility (AOR), provides assessments supporting remote cyberspace operational requirements.

Conceived, developed and implemented the first ARCYBER Protection Brigade multi-million dollar virtualized cyber security range, which implemented and trained defensive and offensive cyber operation tools, resulting in the certification of 18 Cyber Protection Teams.

Systems Integration Officer - Served as Officer in charge for a section the organization’s operations branch. Validated the organizations readiness, Force modernization, and the integration of teams in support national and non-Department of Defense missions. Utilized available resources to execute projects designed to reduce cost and meet organizational IT Requirements. Translated strategic plans and technical guidance into objectives, strategies, and architectural guidance for a 27,000 person organization.

Kept the organization abreast of the latest technologies, trends, training techniques, and mission sets.

Lead a hand selected group of 6 junior leaders who were the subject matter experts for all communication systems in a 700 person communication organization.

1st Ranger Battalion, United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC)

Network/Systems/ Security Engineer -supervised and managed the operation of tactical and strategic information networks, systems, and associated administrative personnel which provided services for a 1100 person Airborne Ranger Battalion. Monitored the execution of baseline and enterprise services; set appropriate structures and processes in place to ensure delivery of C4I services. Coordinated the resolution of C4I problems and incidents within a timely manner. Identified and resolved root causes of problems that degrade delivery of essential C4I services. Submitted corrective action recommendations to higher elements, for those problems outside the organization’s ability, for resolution.

Implemented Information Assurance (IA) procedures on all Automated Information Systems (AIS).

Served as Microsoft Windows Active Directory enterprise administrator for both secret and TS/SCI networks.

Served as level 15 Cisco administrator for multiple global networks operating from the unclassified to TS/SCI security levels.

Managed Cisco UCM with 2000+ VoIP end users.

Planned and implemented Local Area Networks as well as performed configuration management.

Served as the Primary COMSEC custodian, managed a Top Secret COMSEC account with over 150 line items.

75th Ranger Regimental Headquarters, United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC)

Chief Satellite Network Planner and Director - Served as Officer in charge of a 20 person satellite communications section. Provided technical leadership on projects, to include; scope management, cost analysis, technical review, design, test and implementation, and quality assurance. Formulated approaches for operators, to be used in satellite system programming, training, and planning. Managed all global satellite communications for the 3,200 person organization.

Was part of the planning, development, and testing committee which, while working with other Special Missions units, helped to develop the Joint Medium Data Rate Terminal (JMET) which was adopted by U.S Army Special Operations Command and was later re-designated the SOCOM Data Node (SDN).

Used knowledge of satellite communications to help build a communications infrastructure for the 75th Ranger Regiment. This allowed the organization to provide their own secure high data rate communications organically and improved their ability to support the nation’s quick reaction force during contingency operations.

First to deploy into combat with Global Communication Systems (GCS) satellite terminal with imbedded iDirect TDMA modem to further refine and improve the system and ensure it met the requirements to support Special Operations missions.

Tactical Satellite Systems Team Chief - Led a 5 person satellite system team. Providing satellite communications links using the AN/TSC 93 Satellite Terminal. Installed, operated, maintained and repaired communications transmission systems, sub-systems and components. Generated configuration documentation (e.g.; cutsheets) for analog/digital signal conditioning equipment and wireless transmission systems.

Selected by the 112th command, to be first tactical satellite team in USASOC to move forward into Baghdad and provide high bandwidth data communication services in support of command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence up to the Top Secret level.
