Chief Information Officer
Spearheaded the move toward MEDITECH’s second generation of EHR, MEDITECH 6.1 and MEDITECH Ambulatory.
Exhaustive collaboration with MEDITECH to make Marietta a pilot site for MEDITECH Mobile Practice, a precursor to MEDITECH Ambulatory.
Developed the budget for the new MEDITECH implementation, assisted in the creation of the 6.1 and Ambulatory project plans, and created staffing plans for both new and upgraded MEDITECH modules.
Restructured the IT department to be fully inclusive of the MEDITECH Ambulatory team due to the tight integration required for the 6.1 implementation.
Established an IT governance structure whose committees ensured the alignment of IT and organizational strategies, created and monitored performance metrics, and assisted in the prioritization of IT activities.
Developed annual IT strategic plans whose primary focus was reducing the complexity of the organization’s IT environment while mitigating the risk of missing Meaningful Use incentives.
Implemented MEDITECH 6.07 at both hospital facilities in addition to MEDITECH LSS for 160 providers, the largest 6.0x site in the United States.
Directed the successful implementation of MEDITECH’s Emergency Department module for 5 locations, replacing the best-of-breed ED application, Wellsoft.
Rebuilt clinical and business systems to successfully meet Meaningful Use Stage 1 and Stage 2 requirements.
Reversed technology deficits through team development and the establishment of formalized project management processes.
Created the framework for the adoption of ITIL best practices.
Repaired a fractured relationship with the organization’s primary HCIS vendor, MEDITECH, initiating application audits to identify areas where system utilization could be improved, resulting in increased efficiencies by users.
Initiated rolling telecommunications audits and remediation plans which saved the organization $2.1M over 5 years in connectivity, land line, and cellular phone costs.
