I was promoted to fleet manager responsible for over 500 vehicles assigned to the base. I am responsible for training external agency vehicle coordinators on the Air Force vehicle management program. As a coast guardsman I worked as a deck supervisor. It was the crew’s responsibility to maintain light and buoy providing ship guidance in and around waterways. I was responsible for replacing or fixing thousands of buoys and lights throughout the year. Additionally I was responsible for assisting in search and rescue. As a deck supervisor I managed up to ten individuals at a time and all the operations of the deck, which included crane operations, directing the ship’s captain where to position the boat and personnel placement. Since we worked on a small barge, as a deck supervisor you had to be aware of your surrounding and placement of your personnel.
