Controller May 2006 – October 2015

America’s Best Franchising, Inc. is a Hotel Franchisor with five different brands and annual revenue in excess of $3 Million. Responsibilities include daily review of all incoming revenue and expenses and consolidating the activity into a cash flow statement. Duties also include preparing income statements and balance sheets company-wide and on a consolidated basis. Accomplishments include:

Cost analysis based on numerous factors not limited to hotel count and specific brand purpose;

Preparing and modifying a number of cash flow statements to management direction; and

Developing a system necessary to analyze all the related intercompany activity.

Corrugated Gear and Services

CFO/Treasurer October 1985 – March 2002

Corrugated is a $10+ Million Global Distributor of Replacement parts and Refurbishment of machinery for the Corrugated Box Industry. Responsibilities included supervision of all aspects of accounting including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and all phases of inventory control. Overseeing of the business in the owner’s absence and co-managed in his presence. Accomplishments include:

Reviewing and ensuring compliance of building construction to SBA requirements;

Implementing cost accounting program for over 6,000 different parts and establishing reasonable guidelines for related setup costs to offset low production quantities; and

Negotiating license agreements and acquisitions in order to grow product lines and increase market share.

Continental Forest Industries purchased by Stone Container

Accounting Manager January 1978 - April 1981, July 1982 – October 1985

Continental Forest Industries was a division of Continental Can Company. This division combined paper into corrugated board and converted the board into corrugated boxes. The monthly sales exceeded $100k. Responsibilities including supervising the accounting group of 6 that included billing, accounts payable, payroll and inventory control. Accomplishments include:

Maintaining a manual general ledger

Monthly work in process, finished goods inventories

Maintaining a system to measure square footage based on the diameter of partially consumed rolls and

Cross training of the accounting group and filling in when necessary.

Lin Pac Corrugated

Controller April 1981 – July 1982

Lin Pac Corrugated produced corrugated paper and sold it to converting operations in the Atlanta market. Lin Pac was financed by a British family and established SBA loans in the United States. Their monthly sales exceeded $100k and I was the controller for their Greensboro NC office as well. Lin Pac was very computer proficient and the accounting group was reduced to a staff of 3. Accomplishments include:

Initiating a general ledger on an IBM main frame.

Developing a system that converted paper purchased by square feet to negotiated $ per ton published prices

Instituting a system to measure square footage based on diameter of partially consumed rolls and

Cross training of the accounting group and filling in when necessary.

Other Experience: Strong working knowledge and analytical understanding of mathematics with accurate spontaneous percentage calculations. Excellent communicator to all levels of personnel within an organization.
