Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students
Davidson College
Davidson, NC 28035
Good day Dr. Shandley,
I am writing you today to submit my materials in consideration to become your new Executive Director of Career Development. I am a higher education professional with over 15 years of experience in education programming development and leadership. I bring strong acumen in leadership, team building, mission focus, and strategic planning.
My last employment was with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system which required me to work with the highest levels of CMS district leadership to rebuild the faculty team, revamp the entire curriculum, and engineer an unprecedented campaign across the district to attract new students and the needed funding to the program and thus restore compliance with state and national standards.
My previous positions with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the
US Air Force Academy also saw extensive (and specific) work in undergraduate and graduate student career development, recruiting, marketing, and rallying alumni and regional partners to improve student accessions and achieve career pipeline goals. Significant outreach and collaboration through multiple cross-functional partners was necessary to achieve the levels of service and delivery excellence demanded by these institutions.
Lastly, I hold a Master of Science in Higher Education Leadership pursuant to a PhD in Organizational Science at UNC Charlotte. As both a student and a senior faculty member in career development I fully understand the growing need for the mission, recognize the regional competition, and I am up to the challenge of improving Davidson College’s success in this market, ultimately preparing more graduates for successful lives in leadership and service.
I have served as a university department chair, full professor, organizational director and supervisor of 250+ students, staff, and faculty. I hope this unique, blended experience presents the ideal candidate you are looking for to further elevate the Career Development Center’s already notable success.
Very Sincerely,
Christopher J. Rogers, Lt Col, USAF (ret), M.Ed.
