EDUCATION: Cornell University, Ithaca, NY

Graduated 1970, BS in Engineering Physics

Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, CT

Sixteen graduate credits, Environmental Science Dept.

EXPERIENCE: 35 years of Mechanical and Process Engineering.

1997 to Present -- Consulting Engineer, South Royalton, VT.

Designed elements for entrepreneurial anti-terrorism projects; one patent granted, another two pending.

Provided engineering to increase process productivity and reliability and also to enhance air quality in the work environment. Comprehensively understood and modeled the processes, allowing proper specification of components, controls, procedures and quality control methods. Performed cost/benefit analyses for heat recovery.

Generated screening tool (Excel) to automate proposals for client steam cogeneration potential. Elements included turbine choice, sizing, and economic impact (state utility pricing structures codified).

1992 to 1997 -- Director of Engineering, Claremont Flock Corp., Leominster, MA.

Created and managed 5-person engineering team.

Focused corporate technical efforts toward scale up of productivity and modernization of flock cutting and dyeing processes. Succeeded in total effort (company growth was from $7M to $70M in 5 years).

Oversaw all aspects of process redesign: conceptualization, construction and validation of performance Optimized separation efficiency of cyclones and incorporated new instrumentation and controls for pneumatic conveying. Complex procedures were automated via PLCs.

Spearheaded redesign of proprietary cutters to reduce downtime. Introduced low-tolerance modular assemblies in place of in-situ hand assembly of these critical components, reducing downtime from a day to a half-hour each. All designs were documented in AutoCAD.

Designed and served as project manager for construction of two 38,000 sq. foot textile plants, from groundbreaking to commission. Served as sole company liaison with contractors. Designed the buildings and the manufacturing processes within, including heat recovery, energy conservation, material handling, HVAC and air quality management, boilers and hot water resources, and wastewater pretreatment. Overall productivity increase was 300%.

1990 to 1992 -- Adjunct Professor of Physics, Vermont Technical College, Randolph, VT.

Developed curricula and lectured physics. Supervised physics and electrical engineering laboratory.

Other Experience:

Performed heat and gas transfer analyses for engineered bioreactors, wind turbine power management solutions, and sensor research and development (awarded patent for latter work).
