professional profile

I am a Continuous Process Improvement expert, Six Sigma Black Belt, MBA, Organizational Change Agent, Green Technology Specialist, and top notch trainer. I am passionate about my work and it shows. I am recognized as a senior leader and I have documented results saving millions of dollars, increasing profitability, and stimulating a positive workplace environment.

Selected accomplishments

1.Kaplan Inc. Strategic Enterprise Lean Program - Kaplan Inc. was faced with increasing costs, inefficient manufacturing and a decrease in employee satisfaction. My objective was to turn the situation around and build a culture of continuous improvement. I created a 5-year strategic roadmap and enacted a rapid deployment of employee training, executive coaching, and Kaizen events. The result… In 18 months: production time decreased 29%, employee satisfaction scores up 15%, and profits up 39%. I was further tasked with architecting Lean programs at other Kaplan divisions in Florida, NYC, and the United Kingdom. In the end, I also received a global award for continuous improvement leadership.

2.Ashley Furniture Kaizen - During the rollout of an e-module training solution, Ashley furniture was experiencing nearly a 100% failure rate of modules “locking up” during use. I assembled a team of instructional designers, trainers, and I.T. staff to investigate the problem. I lead the group through an exercise using fishbone diagrams to brainstorm possible causes, then using a modified Boston Box tool, we prioritized our top potential solutions. Next, I designed experiments to prove the source of errors and assigned experiments to each team member. As a result, we found to major contributing factors and a couple of smaller ones. The changes were not difficult to implement, and as a result, we were able to run all 200 modules with ZERO problems at any time of day or night.

3.LED Business Development - Lean Communications, Training, and Teamwork - While consulting at a Minneapolis based mattress recycling facility, I was tasked with training 41 convicted felons in the principles of Lean followed by management of selected process improvement projects. Savings were not significant (approximately $150,000) but notably, I was able to work with a dysfunctional, and possibly dangerous group to affect change. If I can get convicted felons to work together with management…imagine what I can do for your company!

4.Hewlett Packard Departmental Streamlining - Given the responsibility of managing a group of eight training engineers who created learning products for Hewlett Packard, I identified operational problems and budget overruns. Worked with staff to map existing processes and analyze production bottle necks and sources of quality problems. We worked with our internal and external partners to implement standardized processes and documentation templates resulting in savings of $400,000 while increasing capacity by 25% and eliminating $80,000 in contracted help.
