INTRODUCTION
My goal is to gain acceptance to a hospital with the objective of contributing as a phlebotomist. My research experience in the dynamics of human bone regeneration, joint diseases and my experience incorporating innovative advanced therapies in orthopedic medicine will enable me to have positive communication practices with patients.
In addition to being an active member of my university varsity soccer team, I worked as a soccer coach and mentor for elementary and middle school students. Working with the youth of this community provided me opportunities to apply my knowledge of exercise science and my communication skills. Also as an undergraduate student, I worked as a gym coordinator. Within these roles, I was a strong advocate for the importance of physical activity as a means to acquire numerous health-related benefits.
In my current position as Biomedical Technician at Biotest Pharmaceuticals, I use cognitive training principals to maintain donor safety while practicing phlebotomy and repairing the facilities plasmapheresis machines.
EDUCATION
Extensive coursework in exercise physiology, more specifically in areas such as exercise prescription with chronic disease management, clinical exercise testing, cardiovascular physiology, sports nutrition, health behavior change, human physiology, health counseling, basic nutrition, fitness training and biomechanics of human movement, concepts in fitness and performance evaluation, jogging and conditioning, weight training, measurement and evaluation in exercise science, physiological assessment, program management and concepts in clinical exercise testing.
SKILLS
Proficient in measuring blood pressure, assessing flexibility and muscular endurance, determining body composition using skin folds or by administering a sub-maximal test, either on a cycle ergometer or treadmill.
Skilled in public speaking, interpersonal communication and time management.
Adept at both OSX and Windows operating systems. Skilled in the use of Office Suite and iMovie.
Knowledgeable in the art of phlebotomy practices.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROMOTION
As a soccer coach, I introduced various exercises, such as juggling and kicking the soccer ball against a wall, to improve the player’s skill level. These simple exercises improved control and mentally challenged the player. Stressing the importance of having fun with any physical activity was promoted through my attitude when explaining drills.
