Employee #6 at a new start up. Led a team of six engineers, hired to design and develop a variety of leading-edge sporting goods products. Developed a productive and innovative culture. Managed the sourcing of new and used composites manufacturing equipment and the product launches to include stand up paddles, golf shafts, racquet sports, softball bats, mountain bikes and bike components.

§ Hired and led team which successfully prototyped carbon fiber sporting goods within a nine month period.

§ Performed R&D on advanced composite materials including carbon fiber, fiberglass, carbon nano tubes (CNT’s) and graphene.

§ Developed innovative ways to incorporate nano materials into composite structures.

§ Sourced composites manufacturing equipment including rolling tables, cello machines, presses, ovens, paint booths, etc. Laid out manufacturing cells and conducted prototyping trials and pilot production runs.

§ Brought four new sporting goods products made from advanced materials to market, including Aztek SUP paddles, Aztek racquet sports paddles, Grandura golf shafts and Baron bats. Directed the work of industrial designers and graphic artists to ensure these innovative products stood out in the marketplace as unique. Filed patents on three of the four new products. Cobra-Puma Golf (PUMA acquired Cobra from Acushnet in 2010), Carlsbad, CA 2004-2013 VICE PRESIDENT, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (2008-2013) Led team of 20 R&D engineers and scientists and built a strong culture to bring new, innovative products to market. Responsible for creating and managing $6.5 million annual budget. Managed the design and development process to bring a competitive edge to Cobra’s products and create obvious “reason to buy” for the consumer.
