To cater to the needs of ever increasing traffic in urban areas, proper planning and maintenance of existing road network is of vital importance for efficient traffic operations .The efficiency of road network mainly depends upon the efficient functioning of intersections. The efficiency, speed, cost of operation, the capacity of the road system very much depends upon the intersection design and hence a detailed study is made in some critical junctions in city of Visakhapatnam. The traffic operations and the characteristics of those junctions were observed and a few improvements were suggested for all the junctions with the principle of transportation system management.

Project Objectives :

The study traffic problem and their behavior at ten critical intersections with a view to suggest some improvements to minimize the accidents and to design an isolated fixed time at junctions and installation of signals.
