About Me

I make the web more enjoyable by creating attractive websites for businesses and individuals who need an effective online presence. I grew up in Alaska, but now I live in Orlando, and spend my spare time playing racquetball, building things out of wood, wandering Disney parks with my wife, working with my church, or hanging out with friends.

Experience

Sr. UX/UI Developer – GeoNorth, LLC 2015-Current

At the beginning of 2015, GeoNorth shifted my focus from my Sr. Web Designer position to a more versatile role to put my knowledge to use in a wider variety of projects. Ideally, nothing would leave the company’s doors without it having been tested, analyzed, and restructured to fit the user’s needs from a usability and accessibility standpoint. Additional tasks (on top of previous Sr. Web Designer role) included:

Creating prototype scenarios for users/clients – Using iRise software or Photoshop

Analyzing user interaction with applications

Revisiting existing interfaces, reworking to improve performance/actionability

Sr. Web Designer – GeoNorth, LLC 2007-2015

I was hired initially as a graphic designer in 2007, and the job continued to evolve to Web Designer, then Sr. Web Designer, and branched into a strong Drupal development role as well over the years as the focus of the company’s target clients shifted. Tasks and daily work included:

All graphic design needs – RFP’s, Proposals, Marketing Materials, Branding

Front-End Web Design and Development – Prototypes, Mockups, Site creation/deployment using HTML/CSS/jQuery as main technologies, usually built on Drupal CMS Framework, but often working with (not developing) Ruby on Rails, ColdFusion, or other technologies

Responsive Designs to accommodate the newer mobile markets for clients

Education

Full Sail University – Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Arts & Design 2006-2007

Upon completing my Associate’s Degree in Digital Media as Valedictorian, I followed up that education by pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Arts & Design, graduating in May, 2007.
