ACADEMIC PROJECT:

“INTELLIGENT ENERGY BILLING AND SECURITY SYSTEM”

The project model reduces the manual manipulation work and theft .Use of GSM or Zigbee in our system provides the numerous advantages of wireless network systems. The system is made up of two devices, the smart energy meter for the consumer and the receiver for the provider. The meter uses both Zigbee and GSM to send the data. The meter can read the energy and send it to the receiver using GSM or Zigbee. The data management system collects and stores the data and uploads it to the internet.

This can be achieved by the use of Microcontroller unit that continuously monitors and records the Energy Meter readings in its permanent (non-volatile) memory location. This system also makes use of a GSM modem and ZIGBEE for remote monitoring and control of Energy Meter and it can be sent to the Electricity department on request. This system also can be used to disconnect the power supply to the house in case of non-payment of electricity bills.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT:

Visited “Thermal Power Plant, Ennore”, Tamil Nadu (September 2013) and learnt about “Production of Electricity and Distribution”.

WORKSHOPS ATTENDED:

Attended the One Day Workshop on “Recent Trends in Power Systems’’ conducted by Thirumalai Engineering College.
