Summary of Qualifications

Professional manager with over 38 years of experience producing goal oriented teams focused on safety, quality, improved productivity, and customer satisfaction. I have developed teams to run higher margin business that lead to increased profitability for the plant and developed individuals to realize their best potential. This was done by using tools such as Break-Thru analysis and Lean Manufacturing to identify the issues, remove them, and continually to monitor them for continuous improvement. I would work with each team on ways to reduce non-value added activities to help improve the process and allow them to create value for themselves and the company.

Experience

Georgia-Pacific Corporation: 2007-2015 (Returned to Georgia-Pacific)

Director of Operations – Dubuque, IA 4/14 – 7/15

While in Dubuque I have helped improved their safety record in the past year, in 2013 they had 8 recordables, in 2014 we had 5, and year to date we are at zero. By working with the team we improved quality and profitability, by increasing awareness and ownership in the process. We sat down as a team and evaluated where we were and what needed to be done to improve, the hourly workforce lead the improvement teams and management was the support group for the changes needed. We meet monthly to monitor our progress.

General Manager – Bradford, PA 1/12 – 4/14

While I was in Bradford we improved the profitability by $1 million by focusing on improving margins and reducing costs. There was a focus on eliminating low margin business and improving productivity through training and developing people. We sought Brand Ready and Retail Ready packaging, we worked with the production group to develop their skills in Lean Manufacturing to run multi-color and multi pass business which lead to improved margins. The opportunity for us in Bradford was to reduce waste not only on the floor but in our system. We reviewed accounts that were not adding value to the system and developed a plan to improve them or eliminate them.

Plant Manager – Chicago, IL 10/07 – 01/12

While at the Chicago plant I helped take our number of recordables from 7 in 2007 to 2 in 2010, this was accomplished by getting employees involved in the safety processes and taking ownership in their own safety. By developing waste teams and identifying the biggest areas for improvement we reduced waste from 7.5% in 2007 to 6.30% in 2010. At GP Chicago I helped reduce our total maintenance costs by $242,000 in 2008, $125,000 in 2009, $42,178 in 2010, and $28,000 in 2011. Each of these processes were accomplished by focusing on continuous improvement by assessing the situation, developing a plan, successful implementation and evaluating our progress along the way.
