I work on a PRN/ FLOAT basis. I work shifts consisting of the OR, Emergency Dept. x-ray and CT in the hospital and outpatient settings for Memorial Hermann at numerous locations. I have a wide base of knowledge and skills that I have accumulated over my career. I am familiar with the OR, special procedures, many PACS, RIS, and EHR software. Emergency, trauma, and the OR are my favorite areas of care to work in.

Radiology Technologist Intern- Advanced Modalities
This was my assigned training facility for my advanced studies in Radiological Sciences for my degree. I was trained in basic CT (cat scans) and MRI studies at this facility by the lead technologist. I also received hands on training in the use of an auto-injector for the administration of contrast media. The manager of the facility and the lead radiology technologist both are professional references should they be needed.

Numerous short-term temporary assignments while I was completing my college degree. They included multi-physician facilities (10), urgent care, and operating room assignments. My favorite assignments were in the operating room using fluoroscopy and urgent care where I could use my analytical abilities and trauma / ER techniques. In order to focus on my education and still have family time I did not take a full time position.

This was a temporary assignment at a clinic start up. I wrote, developed and implemented back office policies and procedures for an orthopedic surgeon’s clinic. Helped to oversee the construction and installation of the x-ray suite and equipment. This included state of the art digital radiography complete with PACS system in-house. I managed the PACS system and user access for the clinic. Completed and filed all state mandated paperwork for new radiography site, also served as initial Radiation Safety Officer for licensing with the state of Texas. Set up exam rooms, ordered supplies, and created office forms needed for daily practice. I assisted the doctor with joint injections, procedures, distribution of samples, surgery education, and scheduling of diagnostic tests and operations with hospitals. I also performed all other medical assisting tasks needed for superior patient care.

My assigned tasks for this clinic start up included, but were not limited to, scheduling patient appointments for multiple providers, verifying insurance, pre-certify procedures with insurance company, and input all data into patient charts: from the creation of the chart to attaching all labs and outside reports. I also performed blood draws and other in-house labs as ordered by the providers and setup rooms for procedures. In addition, I roomed patients by taking complete medical histories and medication lists and entering all into the electronic medical record for the patient. I was responsible for the setup and maintenance of the x-ray department as well as taking all of the digital x-rays. I trained and supervised all contract staff at the facility.

Designated medical assistant for one of the surgeons: accompany doctor in operating room to provide all necessary administrative support for pre-op and post-op documentation. I produced all super bills for billing department, surgery logs, patient care co-ordination, etc. for surgeries. Assist the physician in the exam room with procedures. Perform suture removals, casting and wound dressing. The collection of lab specimens and clinical supply management were also my responsibility. In addition: x-ray exams, processed films, filed patient records and all other needed activities to ensure proper management of the radiology portion of the clinic so that all state regulations and guidelines were met.

I wrote policies and procedures for the new x-ray facility at the clinic. I was responsible for all aspect of compliance, record keeping and routine maintenance of x-ray equipment. Lead technologist responsible for all imaging and coordination of result reporting. Worked with the lead doctor who reads the x-rays to ensure proper reports were sent out as needed to co-ordinate with outside providers. Medical assisting: rooming, charting in electronic medical records, injections, phlebotomy work and lab requisitions as well as patient and contract service representative help, urinary drug screening, audiometer and spirometery tests administered and in house lab procedures were also performed on a regular basis.
