Back office dental assisting includes; assisting the dentist in the administration of treatment at the chair side as required or directed by the dentist. Maintain a sterile and neat working environment according to current infection control procedures. Able to make temporary crown, temporary short and long bridge using acrylic and cemented with temporary cement. Coronal polishing and Full mouth x-rays. Postoperative instruction after extraction.

Greet patients in waiting area and escort to the operatory. Questioning the patients to ascertain home care status, instructing patients in techniques of flossing and brushing in accordance to the protocol. Updating and review patient health history and assure completion of forms and signature. Checking and updating all laboratory deliveries for crown, partial and full denture according to scheduled appointment.

After Doctor’s diagnosis, I also enter treatment plan directed by the dentist and able to talk and explain to the patient what needs to be done if times allows. In addition as assistant I also help in specialties like ortho, perio etc.

Postoperative instruction for patient after extraction.

Assist Orthodontist my job includes; placement of orthodontics separators. Bending, placement and ligation of arch wires. Removal and placement of ties. Assist Orthodontist (4 handed). Brackets removal and polishing. Take impression and bite registrations for diagnostic models for case study. Take digital x-rays, orthodontic x-rays such as pano and cephalometric. Take intraoral pictures using digital camera.

My duties includes assisting the dentist, chair side support, taking and exposing x-rays, making impression and pouring with dental stone, sterilizing instruments, maintaining records and office support as needed, prepare/dismiss patients and prepare amalgams and composites. I also instructed patients on postoperative and general health care. I also removed sutures, apply topical anesthetics to gums or cavity-preventive agents to teeth and removed excess cements used in filling process.
