2005-2008Papa’s Attic, Spring Hill, Florida
Sole Proprietorship Business Owner
As sole proprietor, I opened this retail gift and pack-n-ship store from scratch. From it’s beginning, the business experienced a steady growth pattern. The sales numbers for the first six months of 2007 showed about a 90% increase over 2006 and the business reached the break-even point in just a little less than 2 years. The economic collapse that hit this area in mid 2007 forced the eventual closing of this business in 2008.
2001-2004 Mr. Fred C. Weihe, US Army, Retired
Personal Caregiver for Quadriplegic, Ventilator Dependent Veteran
Due to an extended family situation I became a personal caregiver to a quadriplegic senior male Veteran being treated for chronic lung malfunction and numerous digestive system problems, which were long-term complications of spinal cord injuries received during the course of a Korean military incident in 1955. Over the course of 4 months and with the extensive help of the staff at the James A. Haley Veterans Administration Hospital’s Spinal Cord Unit, I was taught his overall care, medical, and ventilator requirements so completely that the Veterans Administration agreed to turn him over to my care round-the-clock in accordance with the patient's wishes. I completely remodeled an area in my home specifically to administer to his medical needs and personal comfort. The VA called the home setup I created for him a model for this sort of treatment. Until the patient's death, it was his desire to remain in my care due to his confidence in my knowledge of his needs as well as the friendship we developed over the period of my knowing him.
