RELEVANT COURSES:
Programming Languages: Trained in the fundamentals of programming using COBOL, C/C++, JAVA, VB, and PL/SQL. All courses consisted of learning code and syntax and using these buildings blocks to design applications useful in the real world. Learned programming constructs including assignments, loops and conditions.
Systems Analysis and Design: Series of courses that introduced the concept of the full life cycle of a project. Projects were developed from start to finish in small groups using the System Development Lifecycle. These techniques were also central to the Senior Project/ Internship.
Database and Query Languages: JCL, VSAM, Access 2000, Oracle 8/9i/10i/11i, SQL, PL/SQL and database administration. These series of courses concentrated on using statements to query a database. In oracle, SQL was used to query the database, PL/SQL to create procedures, triggers and exceptions, as well as learning the techniques to manage the overall database for speed and efficiency.
Networks: Network Architecture plus design and connectivity. Classes focused on planning, pricing and building a network from scratch. The series then proceeded into the fundamentals of LAN/WAN connection and tools. Finally, topics such as Internet security and managing a server were covered.
