Development System Engineer, Dell Computer Corp., Austin, Texas: 1997-2004
• Designed, implemented and debugged Intel Architecture Server platforms as with Pentium, Pentium II, Xeon, and Pretoria Microprocessor.
• Designed and implemented SCSI U160 Backplanes: The backplanes have 6 or 8 hard- drive connectors. Both backplanes are splittable capable of supporting either 2 independent SCSI busses or a single common bus for all hard-drives.
• Designed and implemented PSPB. The PSPB is the Power Supply Paralleling Board which allows standard, ‘off-the-shelf’, power supplies to be paralleled together, forcing them to share current on each controlled output. The PSPB also monitors each supply’s output voltages and currents. The PSPB can detect the failure of a supply and remove it from the circuit without power interruption of the system: allows the supplies to be ‘Hot Pluggable’.
• Designed IDE Hard-Drive card with the mini Raid Controller.
• Designed PCI Hot-Plug PCI Cards.
• Performed basic timing validations during the design process to ensure robust timing margins. Generated timing budgets for critical signals.
• Created functional test cases for the designed system to ensure it meet specifications and could be easily integrated into production.
• Drove Bring up/Electrical Analysis test plan development/execution and actively supported test plan development /execution in other test areas for designs.
• Performed functional, classical, networking and stress tests of the new Server boards designed on prototype parts. Verified met specifications and system compliance.
• Responsible for cross functional design reviews of team’s designs prior to modem-out and of other projects within the department.
Sustaining Engineer, Dell Computer Corp., Austin Texas 1996-1997 Responsible for all aspects of Desktop, Server Products including technical direction and leadership to manufacturing sites and field service worldwide, root cause analysis and solutions in a timely and cost effective manner. Activities included working with design teams and other related support engineers (Diagnostics, Test, System management, Network, manufacturing); participating in the development of the test strategy for new products; working on the sustaining products for better yield improvement, and component qualifications.
