Managed SQL based hazard communication system containing over 5000 Texaco and Shell petroleum products. Duties included performing hazard assessments on both products and components in preparation of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Labels. Analyzed data from company’s legacy systems in order to implement new Prosteward system under severe time constraints. Acted as liaison between information technologists and business units in reviewing regulatory compliance including OSHA, DOT, TSCA, SARA, RCRA, NFPA and various state regulations. Developed and implemented procedures used in authoring and distributing MSDS’s and labels. Assisted in the preparation of Premanufacture Notifications for EPA. Supervised and trained five support personnel in performing these duties. Worked closely with Equilon’s (Shell & Texaco) lubricant business reviewing new and changed product compositions. Assisted in performing annual health, safety and environmental audits on 200 Shell branded service stations. Counseled with dealers regarding various compliance issues. Managed applications and follow-ups for trust fund reimbursement for environmental clean up. Secured payment of over 1 million dollars from the state. Managed, researched and investigated claims of alleged contamination of former Shell service stations sites. Duties included analyzing real estate documents, title reports, tax records, and Phase I & II environmental assessments to determine Shell’s potential liability under regulatory, statutory and/or common law. Responded to all RCRA notices. Participated in formation of procedures and policies in managing claims with included implementing use of databases and outside resources for information. Prepared indemnification agreements; standstill and tolling agreements; right of entry agreements. Monitored outside counsel legal costs associated with claimant’s application to state trust funds allocated for clean-up. Attended a hands on tank installation and training camp sponsored by Shell at Fluid Containment (formerly Owens Corning).
