Work Experience
Process Engineer, Air Products and Chemicals 10/2011 - Present
Troubleshoot and solve equipment and chemical purification problems on the manufacturing and packaging of ultra high purity chemical products used in the electronics industry.
Monitor and analyze real-time process data. Perform system quality and yield optimization, upgrades and improvements projects. Lead preventative maintenance and update documents including P&ID, PFD, BOM. Maintain laser particle counters used in manufacturing process.
Design new methods of QA samples and provide technical support to review QC monthly SPC and SQC charts. Point of contact for multiple high volume manufacturing lines. Interact with suppliers and customers for raw material and products status. Coordinate with different internal departments.
Lead FMEA and HAZOP including Operating Plant Hazard Review and Design Hazard Review.
Calculate and size pressure relief valves and rupture disks used in all processes and facility.
Selected Project Achievements:
oAfter boil-up rate calculation, adjusted heated zone temperature and distillation reflux ratio to improve product yield by 25% and still met all specifications and control limits.
oPerformed mass balance calculation to determine impurities concentration. Executed raw material high metal impurity removal process using adsorbent on site to save cost of $100k.
oCoordinated system upgrades project. Participated process control and PLC. Defined scope and completed project within deadline and budget. Ran qualifications to validate product quality.
API Tech, International Medication Systems., Ltd 07/2009 – 10/2011
Followed the batch record from R&D to perform mixture of substances intended to be used in the manufacture of high purity active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) regulated by FDA.
Proficiently followed the department SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to perform cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) during the production.
Managed raw materials, assembled equipment, prepared the batch documentation and performed facility instruments including HPLC, centrifuge, powerfuge, extractor, micronizer jet mill, Hosokawa grinder and classifier, freeze dryer, air flow oven and filter press, etc.
Performed the scale-up process to determine operating pressure, temperature, time in use, process cycle, and cleaning conditions, etc. Participated in process, cleaning and equipment validation.
Piping Engineer, SINOPEC Shanghai Engineering Co., Ltd 07/2007 - 10/2008
Designed above and below ground process and utility piping, platform, stair and equipment support. Marked number, type, section, position of pipe supports on the piping diagram.
Developed P&ID’s, piping plans and nozzle orientation drawings of vessels and equipment.
Established equipment location, sizing, specifications and plant arrangement.
Performed isometrics and related bill of materials to ensure that are accurate and complete.
