Skills

Network Administration: Administered Microsoft Windows Active Directory networks for both local and remote locations. Installed users, added computers and server to the AD network, administered roles, groups, and users as required.

Problem Resolution: Analyzed desktop, server, and network issues to isolate problems and find fixes for them. Worked with users both locally and from remote locations using a combination of phone skills, remote desktop viewing, and old fashioned checklists to identify potential fixes. Used common fixes and created manuals to inform other technicians and to provide developers with potential software/hardware fixes to implement.

Microsoft Office Suits Experience: Used at nearly every level the Microsoft Office suite to create documents, spreadsheets, custom reports, presentations, databases, and track projects using Microsoft Project.

Software Development: Establishing deliverables and requirements, allocating resources of personnel and equipment, and completing milestones until project completion. Worked with stakeholders to identify tasks, assigned them to project members, scheduled them, and following through on their execution until the project was completed and closed out. Followed tasks and measured progress to identify potential risks and keep project on schedule. Used PHP, Java, and C++ with the ability to learn other languages as required.

LAMP development: Using a combination of Linux PHP, Apache, and MySQL, created custom modules to receive user inputs, process data and display various web pages according to customer requirements. Used Perl to create custom scripts for maintenance of files and batch processing. Used Open Source Software as required to achieve customer goals.

Internet connection and security administration. Designed and implemented a plan to connect businesses to the Internet, including firewall and NAT configuration using Nokia and Checkpoint systems. Installed and administered a secure E-mail solution that included Web access into local company E-mail, address books, and local documents. Spearheaded efforts to train employees to maximize use of groupware options (such as calendar, document sharing, etc) between local and remote users. Analyzed TCP/IP settings to get the best performance and security for the network involved.

PC Administration, Standards, and Administration company wide. Resulted in a reduction of PC related problems, repairs, and increased reliability. Established application program PC troubleshooting for both local and remote users via a centralized help desk and dispatch.

Design, Install, and Administration of multiple servers for a 250+ user corporate environment in multiple branches and locations. Organized Netware implementation for NDS administration, Linux SAMBA and Apache systems as well as NT administration for local and remote sites. Installed, maintained, and administrated Linux based systems for various Unix based scripting needs, including log file analysis, Web programming, and database manipulation. Managed Citrix Internet and dial-up connections for remote users. User administration and enforcing of security standards was performed.

Multiple Operating Systems Expertise. Installed and managed both workstations and servers running Linux, Windows NT, Novell Netware, Macintosh OS X systems, in configuring web servers, mail servers, MySQL databases, file and print servers. During my time on the Network floor, I’ve worked to maintain an entire companies workstations, troubleshooting hardware, and replacing parts as necessary the system running.

Online Magazine Experience. Created timely articles about computer gaming entertainment, managing a team of writers in reviewing software and hardware products from various companies including Microsoft, Konami, Square-Enix, and other prominent companies.
