Journeyman Die Maker

Commercial Metal Forming - Youngstown, OH - August 2011 to Present Responsibilities

Current duties include day-to-day delegations of dies to be repaired by other journeymen die makers. Responsible for answering questions regarding problem solving and how to repair or recreate a die that may be sheared, have broken punches or are not producing a consistently high quality part. Efficient time management for this process is critical to ensure the least amount of lost manufacturing for the customer. Required to respond to all engineering questions surrounding design of new dies as well assisting in the design and creation of new blueprints used to manufacture new dies. Other routine duties include the ordering of stock and parts as necessary, scheduling parts for heat treatment, as well as all welding & repairs. Welding repairs vary from broken presses, tooling, or automation. Working with other supervisors to discuss work load, job scheduling, and instructing other journeymen on die production as needed. Miscellaneous troubleshooting for malfunctioning machines is required on an as-needed basis.
