EXPERIENCE
Research Assistant September, 2013 – May, 2015
Rutgers University, Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering
One of two students chosen from the Engineering School program to assist Professor Hara – an authority in polymer processing – with leading-edge, ionomer research.
Research support responsibilities included: establish lab safety credentials, uphold proper and ethical standards in lab procedures and advance knowledge on ionomers through self-study and mentoring with Professor Hara. Engaged approximately 15 hours a week in experiments that worked toward an over-arching research goal.
Created samples of polymers and used them with a viscometer or light scattering laser in experiments that determine the polymers’ solution properties. Maintained laboratory environment and inventory.
Applied experimental results with Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) laser software and Microsoft Excel to create equations and build new models of molecular behavior.
Executive Board Fundraiser September, 2012 – January, 2015
Alpha Phi Omega (national service fraternity)
Led charity fundraisers, and profitable social events to foster camaraderie, build campus and local business connections, and increase the quality of the organization with extra funds
