TITLE: VOLTAGE DISTRIBUTION OVER SUSPENSION INSULATOR STRING

BRIEF DISCRIPTION: Insulator is one of the vital components of power Transmission and Distribution Network. The voltage distribution over insulator strings, which are very common in the suspension of overhead transmission system, is greatly uneven. This results in uneven voltage distribution across insulator units, insulators damage and finally forced outage from system. In this project, various methods are studies to make voltage distribution more uniform in the string in clean and dry conditions. Also, the simulations (In MATLAB) showed significant increment in insulator string efficiency factor by varying unit dimensions, Grading or with the help of guard-ring. So the calculation of the voltage distribution along them is a very important factor in the design of the insulators.
